The role of the police on this day of unity in Morocco has been to observe. They re keeping a distance. It doesn't want to embolden people by striking hard. It's hoping the protests will end after this day and everybody will go home to the same old same old... The balance of fear shifted in the favor of the people! That's already progress that can't be turned back!
